Girls in Fighting Forces: Moving Beyond Victimhood

This report looks at the experiences of girls living in conflict-affected areas in different parts of Africa. It explores the lives of girls as victims, participants, and resisters of conflict. Though girls are often discriminated against and cast aside during times of conflict and post-conflict, the paper highlights the significant roles girls play in these processes. It examines the impact of conflict on girls (particularly the issue of violence and its effects); and it explores the perseverance and agency that girls exert in this context.
