Female Genital Mutilation/Cutting: A statistical overview and exploration of the dynamics of change

On 22 July, UNICEF released a global report on FGM that found that although the practice is declining, it is still the case that in more than half the 29 African and Middle Eastern countries studied, 30 million girls are still at risk of FGM in the next decade. The statistical analysis also showed that prevalence rates declined the most in countries, such as Kenya, Burkina Faso, which addressed the issue through a combination of the law, education and child protective measures.
