Ethiopia: The Ministry of Women, Children and Youth Affairs is advocating for a strong focus on gender equality in financing for development more importantly a gender responsive final Action Agenda towards the delivery and implementation of the post 2015 development framework and the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This would include the critical stand-alone gender equality goal as well as all the gender equality targets in the rest of the 17 SDGs.
At a press conference jointly held with UN Women yesterday, Minister Zenebu Tadesse said the Ministry organized a high – level panel on the side line of Financing Development Conference with the theme ‘ Finance for Gender’ July 14, 2015. She added: “Ethiopia’s will share its best experiences at the panel. “
UN Women Ethiopia, AU and ECA representative Letty Chiwara also said that the panel discussion will also provide an opportunity to share lessons on financing for gender equality, sharing best practices , success stories and highlighting key gaps to be bridged in achieving gender equality and empowerment of women in the SDGs in Africa.
