Mozn Hassan, Nazra Receive ‘Alternative Nobel Prize’

Egypt: Nazra for Feminist Studies, along with its Founder and Executive Director of Mozn Hassan, received the 2016 Right Livelihood Award, widely known as the “Alternative Nobel Prize,”. Hassan and Nazra received the award “for asserting the equality and rights of women in circumstances where they are subject to ongoing violence, abuse and discrimination,” the Right Livelihood Award Foundation said in a statement.

The Right Livelihood Award, which was established in 1980, honours people and organisations offering visionary and exemplary solutions to the root causes of global problems, according to the statement.
